The three Técnico alumni (Civil Engineering Integrated MSc) João Tavares, Margarida Amândio and Miguel Santos were awarded at the 1st Civil Engineering Symposium. The monetary awards aim to encourage the high-quality work of Civil Engineering students and promote their public recognition.
João Tavares won the 1st prize in the “Extended Abstract” category, for his work “Computational models applied to the service life prediction of ETICS”. Margarida Amândio won 1st place in the “Presentation” category, for her Master’s degree dissertation titled “Towards the implementation of intelligent optimization systems for process management in pavement rehabilitation”. Miguel Santos was also awarded in the same category, for his work “Estudo da viabilidade técnica da utilização de tubagens de material compósito na reabilitação de passagens hidráulicas e agrícolas” (evaluate the technical viability of rehabilitating PH/PA using GFRP pipes, namely their application in the inner soffit of the old steel pipe).
The 1st Civil Engineering Symposium took place in digital format and was organised by several higher education institutions. The main objective of this Symposium was to present the results of the academic work of undergraduate and Civil Engineering MSc students, carried out from 2017 to 2020. In addition, the event was also an opportunity for final year students and recent graduates to exchange their experiences.
