Técnico alumnus appointed to take up a management and innovation role at the Ministry of Health

The alumnus experience as an innovation consultant in several international projects influenced his appointment.

David da Cruz e Silva was recently appointed advisor to the Deputy Secretary of State for Health, as an expert in management and innovation.

The Técnico alumnus is an innovation consultant with experience in several international projects, namely in Europe. Until the beginning of 2018, David was in Brussels to develop several innovation projects. “Usually, I help the companies I work with to achieve a sustainable growth”, explains the alumnus.

He got a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT NOVA). He obtained a double degree in Business Engineering by Louvain School of Management, Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and in Industrial Engineering and Management by Instituto Superior Técnico. David da Cruz e Silva began his professional career working in business development services and “gradually, I began to work in services involving management and innovation methodologies”, he shares. He collaborated with several startups and SMEs as well as with world renowned companies such as BMW, McKinsey & Company and Roche.

The alumnus doesn’t forget “the training of excellence that I got at Técnico that has been and continues to be essential for my professional career”. He also recalls that he feels “a strong link to the school”, so he “would like to participate in some of the activities organised by Técnico”.
