On 12 September, Instituto Superior Técnico and Huawei signed an agreement under the InTele Cooperation Protocol (an initiative in the field of telecommunications), aiming to attract students to this field and improve their study conditions.
Rogério Colaço, the President of Técnico, took the opportunity to mention that these partnerships are “a way of Técnico becoming more involved with the society […] and creating added value. He also recalled the long-standing collaboration with the Chinese company, which has been present in Portugal since 2004. Luís Correia, a professor at Técnico in the scientific area of telecommunications, reinforced the President’s idea and stressed that the goal is to achieve “more attractive conditions for telecommunications students.
The CEO of Huawei Portugal, Wu Hao, expressed his “honour” to collaborate with Técnico, adding that participating in this type of “initiative and activity” is a way to “help Portugal, especially its universities”.
Since May 2022, Huawei has been an InTele partner, which takes the form of awarding a Merit Prize to the best student on the Master’s Programme in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering and a scholarship to master’s students for the development of their dissertation.
In 2019, Técnico and Huawei signed another agreement to support the training of telecommunications engineers.
