Técnico hosted a new edition of the Bootcamp Talent last Friday, October 14, at Salão Nobre. The event was attended by 185 students and recent graduates who heard repeatedly the words “focus”, “work” and “commitment”.
The Vice President of Técnico for Operations and Corporate Partnerships, Pedro Amaral shared his experience as a former student and stressed that back then there were no such events. “This event allows Técnico students to show themselves in other ways so that they can be more than the image we have of them”.
During the morning the audience learnt how to make a pitch appealing and got some advice from the company representatives: “Your career is your business, it’s time to manage it as a CEO”, “ask the right questions” or “take pride in your work”.
“It is always good to hear from someone who has been through the [same] experience”, said Francisco Rosa, a student of Mathematics Applied to Computation.
During the afternoon the students were divided into groups and had the opportunity to learnt more about the day-to-day work of more than 30 company representatives, and to clarify their doubts. The closing session included remarks by the CEO at Vinci Energies Portugal, Pedro Afonso, and the CEO at BPI Bank, João Pedro Oliveira e Costa closed the session and shared their experiences.
On Saturday, the students will be challenged to pitch to potential recruiters such as Amazon, Microsoft, The Coca-Cola Company, Vodafone or Cofidis.
