Técnico is part of an “European university” project that will revolutionize higher education

Professor Arlindo Oliveira, president of Técnico, and members of peer institutions signed a collaboration agreement this Thursday.

This Thursday, April 11th, Técnico signed a collaboration agreement with six European institutions, which are part of UNITE! (University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering). This agreement will allow the creation of an inter-university campus for students, professors and researchers.

The plan presented by UNITE! is ambitious and simultaneously adjusted to what is thought to be higher education in the future. A trans-European campus, where physical and virtual mobility allow flexible study and career paths, providing an international business ecosystem and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. According to UNITE statement,”we are going to educate a new generation of European students in science and engineering, fostering their entrepreneurial mindset”.

The Aalto University (Finland), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Grenoble Institute of Technology (France), Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) and Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany) are also part of this project. Together, these institutions hold more than 167,000 enrolled students and annually enroll 36,700 graduates.

Education, student and individual mobility, and entrepreneurship will be the pillars of this project, which is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
