João Ramôa Correia, professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georesources (DECivil) at Técnico, was distinguished by the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC) with the Distinguished Young Researcher Award 2016.
This award was established by the IIFC Council in 2006. The Award is given to an IIFC member not older than 40 years of age, who has made outstanding research contributions in the field of FRP composites for construction. This award is given every two years and the winner is invited to deliver one of the keynote lectures at the next CICE conference – International Conference on Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites in Civil Engineering: this year the conference will be held next December, in Hong Kong.
João Ramôa Correia was a student of Civil Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico and he is a professor at DECivil since 2002. In 2012, he was distinguished with the IABSE award for his research on GFRP structures.
