There are four Técnico spin-offs among the Top-25 Portuguese scaleups – young companies with 10 or more employees generating significant revenues. Unbabel (1st), Codacy (5th), Landings.jobs (9th) and HeartGenetics (12th) are part of the Building Global Innovators (BGI) ranking. This is not the first time that these spin-offs feature in BGI Top 25. Unbabel and Codacy have improved their positioning, compared to 2018 and Landing.jobs keeps its position. Heart Genetics, created by the Técnico alumna and Técnico professor Ana Teresa Freitas, is part of the prestigious list for the first time this year.
BGI ranking includes companies created from 2013 to 2018 and takes into consideration: the investment raised by these companies, the total revenues, the investment turnover ratio, the number of jobs created and the potential for job creation.
According to the report, these Top-25 Portuguese scaleups have already won a total of €178 million in funding rounds.
