An online information session on Técnico Summer Internships, an internship programme that allows Técnico students to enrich their curricula and begin to prepare their entry into the job market, took place this Tuesday, 12th May, aiming to clarify students doubts.
Daniel Nunes, member of TT @ Tecnico, made a brief presentation of the programme, stressing the importance of these internships. “They provide students a first professional experience, and it’s also an opportunity to create a network of contacts and to be part of a work team”. Catarina Amaro, representative of IST Summer Internships (IST-SI), also stressed the importance and the value of this internship programme.
In order to minimise the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which also affect the business world, Daniel Nunes explained that some measures were taken to make these internships possible. “Remote internships will take place wherever possible”, said Daniel Nunes. Regarding on-site internships, Daniel Nunes stresses “they must comply with the established safety standards”. The entire application process should preferably be done online.
The participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts with Carla Patrocínio, the coordinator of TT@Técnico.
Técnico Summer Internships were created 8 years ago. More than 1500 students had the opportunity to undertake a summer intership.
In 2019, Técnico Job Bank received 5412 applications from students, but unfortunately only 483 summer internships were available. This year, up to this point, 150 internships are available, a number that is expected to increase until the application deadline, on 24th May.
