The new Management Committee – IST CTN Campus and the new Deputy Directors of CTN laboratories took office Thursday, 30th January. The new management committee is composed of Dr. José Marques (President), Prof. Pedro Brogueira (member) and Prof. João Galamba Correia (member). The new deputy directors are Dr. João Alves (Laboratory of Radiological Protection and Safety), Dr. Eduardo Gonçalves (Laboratory of Accelerators and Radiation Technologies) and Dr. José Marques (Laboratory of Nuclear Engineering).
“We can face and turn our challenges into opportunities. We must be able to create a medium term strategic plan that respond to these challenges, taking into account the opportunities ahead of us”, said the president of the new management committee, Dr. José Marques.
The president of the Scientific Board, professor Luís Oliveira e Silva, highlighted “in a certain way, ceremonies of this kind, are regarded as a rebirth of our institution. CTN has a strong track record in Science and Technology in Portugal; we have the responsibility to keep it and, at the same time, to expand it”. “We must also expand our horizons so that CTN becomes more and more a part of Instituto Superior Técnico, thus allowing students, professionals and all Técnico community to take full advantage of this campus. The Scientific Council will help you face these challenges with confidence”, added professor Luís Oliveira e Silva.
“We must build the future together”, said the president of Técnico, professor Rogério Colaço. “Técnico and CTN provide two unique things: quality and reliability. Those who work with us know the quality of our work and they rely on us because of that, and this gives me confidence for the future”.
