An information session on TecInnov Thales – 5th edition took place this Tuesday, May 7th, at Técnico. The session, organised by the Technology Transfer office, was attended by engineer Tiago Fonseca, Thales representative, professor Luís Caldas de Oliveira, vice-president of IST for Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations and winners of previous editions.

Engineer Tiago Fonseca made a brief description of the company and explained why Thales once again supports TecInnov: “We will keep supporting and stimulating students’ ideas. We also intend to promote a culture of innovation”.

Mafalda Pacheco, Técnico alumna and researcher, presented TuriBEAT, a tool for measuring, mapping and visualizing the occupancy rate in public spaces. “The idea came from the fact that tourism is producing an impact on the city, especially in historic centres, which are being massively occupied”, she said.

At the end, the participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts, which allowed potential candidates to set their own strategies. Applications for this year’s edition are open until 10th May.
