Women with a link to Técnico are among Portugal’s most influential woman in 2017

The alumnae Isabel Vaz, Paula Panarra and Cristina Fonseca, as well as Zita Martins, professor and researcher at Técnico, are part of the list of women with relevant role in the most diverse areas in 2017.

The magazine “Executiva” organised the award ceremony “25 Portugal’s most influential women”, on April 12, at Palácio Foz, Lisbon. The awards were delivered by the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality to women playing a preponderant role in the most diverse areas: science, fashion, arts, entertainment and politics.

The alumna Isabel Vaz, Head of Luz Saúde, one of the main groups in the healthcare sector ranked 10th in the list of the “25 Portugal’s most influential women”. Graduated in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in 1990, the engineer was recently awarded with Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo award granted by Técnico.

Cristina Fonseca, co-founder of Talkdesk, and Paula Panarra, General Manager of Microsoft Portugal, were distinguished as successful entrepreneurial women. Professor Zita Martins was distinguished in the field of science and was considered one of the world’s best astrobiology professors.

The 3rd edition of the award created by the magazine “Executiva” is sponsored by Multicare, PwC, Transearch and SEAT. One of the goals of these awards is “to inspire other women to pursue successful careers in different areas”. The assessment was based on five criteria: career (professional curriculum), image (presence on national and international media), contact network (peer recognition), power (social, professional, political and entrepreneurial impact) and fortune (financial resources).
