AEIST RugbySevens won Lisbon’s University Rugby Championship. “Winning a championship it’s always a cause of great joy, but winning it for the first time in the history of Técnico, makes our victory even more special”, points out the team leader, Pedro Correia.
The championship was promoted by Associação Desportiva do Ensino Superior de Lisboa (ADESL) and the finals were played between AEIST RugbySevens and Instituto Superior de Agronomia, which had already won Lisbon’s University Rugby Championship in 2015. “It wasn’t an easy game because they have a strong defensive line”, says Pedro Correia. “We stayed together as never before and we defended our adversary’s offensive moves. That’s how we reach the victory that we had hoped for”, he recalls.
“This is one of the most important victories in recent times that leave a mark in the history Técnico”, highlights Pedro Correia. If AEIST RugbySevens wins the national championship, the team will have the chance to qualify for the European Championship.
