The 2nd period for submission and evaluation of applications to the PhD programmes of Instituto Superior Técnico takes place between December 2, 2025 and January 9, 2026.
Applications for doctoral programs are accepted permanently, throughout the academic year, exclusively online, through the Connect platform. However, they are only evaluated during the two defined application phases.
During the doctoral programme, Técnico students participate in national and international research projects, being encouraged to patent innovative results and develop an entrepreneurial spirit.
Técnico offers PhD courses in partnership with national and international universities, and there are cases in which students can obtain a double degree.
Last year, Técnico presented its new Doctoral School , which has a growing focus on internships in companies and training in transversal skills, in areas such as artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and science communication. In October 2025, days before the 11th edition of the PhD Open Days, a workspace for PhD students was inaugurated.
