INESC-ID researchers win Best Paper Award on Software Engineering

The paper was awarded at the 21st Ibero-American Conference on Software Engineering and explores the advantages of a tool that improves energy efficiency of Android Apps.

Luís Cruz and Rui Maranhão Abreu, both researchers at INESC-ID in the area of Information and Decision Support Systems, won a Best Paper award at the 21st Ibero-American Conference on Software Engineering SET Track, held from 23rd to 27th April in Colombia, for their paper “Using Automatic Refactoring to Improve Energy Efficiency of Android Apps”. The wining article is focused on “a mobile app development tool that improves energy efficiency of Android Apps”, explains Rui Maranhão Abreu. The work developed by the INESC-ID researchers shows that developers often lack knowledge of best practices.

According to Rui Maranhão Abreu, this award will “highlight the importance of Software Engineering for a sustainable code development”. The research outcomes will be automatically part of the development process in order to facilitate the creation of a sustainable code development.
