On May 4, the Portuguese Navy and Técnico signed a protocol that will promote scientific and technological development for the next five years, through the development of research activities. The document was signed by the President of Técnico, professor Rogério Colaço, and Admiral Gouveia e Melo, Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Navy. The protocol foresees, among other things, several joint activities.
Developing joint scientific and technological projects and promoting pedagogical collaboration are some of the defined goals.
To this end, the navy military personnel may be appointed to attend 2nd and 3rd cycle courses, as well as postgraduate courses and isolated curricular units, in higher education institutions. The tuition costs shall be borne by the Portuguese Navy.
This protocol also provides for participation in scientific and technological research activities, whose specific protocol will be celebrated for each particular research project.
