Kingdom Tower leading engineer gives a lecture at Técnico

Robert Sinn, who is currently leading the structural engineering of Kingdom Tower, shared his experience with Técnico students.

Robert Sinn, Principal in the Chicago office of Thornton Tomasetti and currently leading the structural engineering of the Jeddah Tower, in Saudi Arabia, gave a lecture this Friday at IST Congress Centre, which was organised by Fórum Civil.

The lecture was focused on the significant technical engineering challenges of designing the next world’s tallest building. Robert Sinn also spoke about the components, structure and tests performed in the different stages. “The project has suffered several changes due to its ambitious aims”, he said.

The skyscraper, which is expected to be completed in 2019, will incorporate many unique structural and aesthetic features. “Apart from being engineers, we should also learn how to build”, he concluded.
