Deep Learning is inspired by the way the human brain processes information and allows the use of large amounts of data to identify patterns, classify information and make decisions. This specialisation course introduces deep neural network-based learning and addresses the associated regularization, training and optimization. In addition to the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Recurrent Neural Networks and Long Short-Term Memory Networks (RNNs and LSTMs) are also introduced, discussing their different successful applications, along with their interpretability.
This course is part of the Specialisation Programme in Data Science for Engineers (DASH), as optional.
Course goals
At the end of the programme, trainees are expected to be able to:
- Recognise the practical applicability of deep neural networks;
- Apply deep learning techniques to different types of data;
- Evaluate the results obtained with the trained models;
- Address the interpretability of the discovered models.
