Generative AI has emerged in recent years as the transformational technology for the digital age, and has brought new life to natural language processing (NLP). The specialisation course “LLMs: Generative AI for Engineers” arises following the undeniable advances in the field of NLP, and its potential for increasing productivity in engineering.
In this context, the course presents large-scale language models (LLMs), as well as their training, optimisation and adjustment to the specific constraints of the applications to be developed.
Focused on the applications of natural language processing, this specialisation course introduces the fundamental techniques for text generation and application of generative AI, LLMs in particular, following a ‘learning by doing’ approach typical of engineering training and our data science courses.
This course is part of the Specialisation Programme “Data Science for Engineers” (DASH), as an optional course, and will be given online, via Zoom.
Goals:
At the end of the programme, trainees are expected to understand the potential of applying natural language processing to textual documents. In particular:
- To explore the potential applications of generative AI based on LLMs;
- To apply generative AI based on LLMs, following each of the information discovery steps;
- To adapt LLMs to specific cases, through fine-tuning and optimisation of the model’s objective function;
- To maximise model performance through state-of-the-art training, tuning and optimisation, taking into account application-specific constraints.
