The Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) interdisciplinary thematic network on health – redeSAÚDE, has recognised the best doctoral and master’s projects carried out at ULisboa, submitted to the 7th annual redeSAÚDE Conference. Three Técnico students were awarded for their master’s projects.
Catarina Jones, a Biomedical Engineering student, won the award in the “Oncology/Precision Medicine” category with her work “Novel Wireless Nanobioelectronic Systems to Rewire Cancer Bioelectricity”. Mafalda Serafim, a Computer Science and Engineering student was the winner in the “Health Systems/Entrepreneurship/Digital Transition” category, with the work “Acquisition of bio-markers from speech for the identification of Bipolar Disease in European Portuguese”. Diana Bernardo, an Engineering Physics student stood out in the “Ageing/Cardiovascular Diseases/Neurodegenerative Diseases” category, with her work “Machine learning in cardiac electrophysiology: Localisation of accessory pathways in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome patients with 12-lead electrocardiographic analysis”.
In addition to the Técnico master’s students, the award winners were the master’s student Marta Batista (Faculty of Sciences), and the PhD students Ana Assunção (Faculty of Human Motricity), Marta Fernandes (Faculty of Medicine), Ana Pereira (Faculty of Medicine) and Diana Moita (Faculty of Medicine).
These awards are delivered annually for the best Doctoral theses (1000 euros) and best Master’s theses (250 euros). The ULisboa / redeSAÚDE 2023 Awards ceremony took place during the 7th annual Conference of redeSAÚDE, held on 14th November.
