The 2024 edition of THE by subject rankings was published on 26 October. This is an initiative of Times Higher Education (THE) that annually assesses university performance in different scientific areas. As far as Técnico’s fields of expertise are concerned, the Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) leads the ranking at a national level in Engineering and Physical Sciences, placing it among the 301-400 best universities in the world (401-500 the previous year).
In both fields, ULisboa has moved up compared to the results obtained in the previous edition – worldwide, the university has gone from 401-500 to the top 400 in Engineering and from 501-600 to the top 500 in Physical Sciences. In Computer Science, another field of expertise taught at Técnico, ULisboa is now among the 401-500 best institutions worldwide (501-600 in 2023), moving from 3rd to 2nd place nationally.
The engineering subject ranking includes Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The physical sciences subject ranking, in which first place is shared ex aequo with the University of Coimbra, includes the following disciplines: Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Marine and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy.
The Study and Projects Unit at Técnico provides an in-depth analysis of these results.
