Can machines think? What are the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence and automatic learning? Are jobs at risk or, on the contrary, new opportunities will be created by developing these smart machines? These are some of the topics that will be addressed at the 1st conference “Innovation, Society and Technology”, organised by Instituto Superior Técnico, in partnership with Agência Lusa, which will take place this Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m., in Salão Nobre.

Fernando Pereira, VP and Engineering Fellow at Google, Luís Sarmento, CTO at Tonic App’s, André Martins, Unbabel Senior researcher, Mário Figueiredo, from Instituto de Telecomunicações at IST, José Santos Victor, president of the Institute for Systems and Robotics at IST and Arlindo Oliveira, president of Instituto Superior Técnico will participate as speakers at this conference.
