«The Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+), a research unit at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, is pleased to announce the seminar “The Psychology of Persuasive Technology” on 4 May.
Many societal problems require changes in human behavior and thinking because changing technology alone is not enough.
Since the consequences of using technology are often shaped by the way people interact with it, Behavior Change Support Systems, or Persuasive Technology, can help people make these changes.
In this talk, Dr. Jaap Ham will present his research on how persuasive technology influences users and how these systems can be personalized based on users’ specific characteristics and situations. He will also present an initial study on how users might defend themselves against technological influence.
Manuel Heitor (IN+/Instituto Superior Técnico) will introduce the presentation and moderate the discussion.»
