The Semana da Bioengenharia (Bioengineering Week) at Instituto Superior Técnico (SBE IST) was first developed in 2014 as an initiative of the Masters’s students in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology and Microbiology, from the IST Bioengineering Department.
Ever since, its mission has been to enhance the relationship between the academic community and both corporate and scientific world, as well as to disseminate the work carried out in Portugal and the rest of the world in the most diverse sectors of bioengineering.
In order to fulfill this goal, during this week, from 5th to 9th march, an interdisciplinary group of students, academics, companies and start-ups are brought together, in order to foster their interaction and sharing of knowledge.
Hence, SBE IST is an event which features a series of lectures from investigators and companies in the bioengineering area, scientific field trips to relevant investigation or industrial facilities, workshops and international guests, among other activities.
