Speaker: Diego Babuder (EasyJet Pilot)
Title: “EasyJet: the take-off of green aviation”
«Abstract:
In the Seminar led by Diego Babuder, EasyJet pilot and engineering student at Politecnico di Milano, both faculty and students of DEM/IST will have the opportunity to learn more about EasyJet’s commitment to sustainability. The NetZero Project until 2050 will be the protagonist. In this agreement, the airline has proposed to achieve net zero emissions by the year 2050. Diego will therefore share insights into technological innovations, eco-efficient flight strategies and environmental initiatives that are shaping the future of sustainable aviation.
Speaker bio:
Diego Babuder is a pilot for EasyJet airline and an executive doctoral student in Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. As part of his doctoral studies, he is carrying out a four-year joint research project between EasyJet and Politecnico di Milano on the sustainable transition of the air transport sector. Specifically, his research focuses on the operational and infrastructural challenges associated with the adoption of new environmentally friendly aviation technologies (i.e., sustainable aviation fuels, electric propulsion, and hydrogen propulsion). Diego spent part of his research program at the University of Kansas, where he was welcomed as a Visiting Scholar by the Aerospace Engineering Department.
The “Seminars@DEM” are organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM). The upcoming seminar will take place on February 28, at 3 p.m.»
