Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning are enabling applications in systems that interact with the physical world, including industrial and service robots, the Internet of Things, Smart Cities, and more.
The series of talks titled “Artificial Intelligence in Interaction with the Physical World”, a collaboration between Instituto Superior Técnico and the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisboa), will highlight successful partnerships between the scientific community and the business sector that address practical challenges or inspire innovative solutions emerging from Portugal. Drawing on concrete examples from Portugal, researchers at Instituto Superior Técnico and its research units will present and discuss aspects of AI that are not widely recognised yet significantly impact our daily lives.
The talks will take place in Leonel Moura’s ‘Art with Science’ exhibition space, where artistic works created using robots and AI are currently on show.
The Inaugural Forum “AI around us” will bring together professors Arlindo Oliveira, José Santos-Victor, Nuno Jardim Nunes, Patrícia Figueiredo, Paulo Ferrão, Tiago Domingos and will be moderated by professors Pedro Lima and Porfírio Silva. “How is artificial intelligence present in our lives? We will explore this topic beyond chatbots and the screens of our mobile phones and computers. AI enables us to create tools that enhance our everyday lives in subtle yet powerful ways. Alongside technology-generated art, we will present the themes and the full series of upcoming talks, as well as introduce the moderators for each session.”
