«The Meeting Room of the Main Building at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, will host the Técnico Alumni Scholarships Award Ceremony on March 17, at 5 p.m. The initiative is promoted by the Técnico Alumni Association (AAAIST) within the scope of the Técnico Alumni Solidarity Fund.

This symbolic event will bring together students, alumni, and members of the academic community to celebrate academic excellence and reinforce the collective commitment to equal opportunities in access to and success in higher education. The Técnico Alumni Scholarships are aimed at students with strong academic performance and socio-economic difficulties who are not covered, or receive insufficient support, through public social action grants.

Currently, more than 600 Técnico students who meet the eligibility criteria for social grants receive no financial support. The Técnico Alumni Solidarity Fund was created to respond to this reality by awarding annual scholarships of up to €4,000, ensuring financial stability throughout students’ academic journeys while promoting a culture of intergenerational solidarity.

The ceremony will also highlight the essential role of the alumni community in building a more inclusive Técnico. With more than 70,000 alumni, the collective impact of donations helps transform lives and ensure that no talent is lost due to financial constraints.

Through this initiative, the Técnico Alumni Solidarity Fund reinforces its mission to create a close and supportive community, capable of empowering today’s students and inspiring future generations.»
