SPEAKERS

  • Luís Neves: PhD in Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry from University of Coimbra (UC), where he is Full Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC). He has carried out research work in several R&D Units, currently integrating the UC Earth and Space Research Centre (CITEUC).  Professor Luís Neves is member of the team of the Natural Radioactivity Laboratory – Department of Earth Sciences of the UC. He is the author, co-author and editor of numerous scientific communications and publications at national and international congresses in his specialisation field, with emphasis, on more recent years, on natural hazards and geothermal issues. He is the President of the Portuguese Society for Radiation Protection since 2014 and member of the Group of Experts set up under the terms of Article 37 of the Euratom Treaty. He has held several university management positions: From 2011-2019 he was Director of FCTUC, and currently he is Vice-Rector and Administrator of UC.
  • Rita Espanha: PhD in Sociology from Iscte- University Institute of Lisbon. Director of the Master in Communication, Culture and Information Technologies at Iscte-IUL. ERASMUS coordinator of the Sociology Department and Member of the Iscte Health Mission Team. Researcher at CIES-Iscte, currently develops research in the areas of “Communication, Information Technologies and Health”, “Health Literacy”, “Generations and Communication Technology”. Professor Rita Espenha is the author of several books and articles in the areas of Health and Communication, Network Communication and Youth and Media in Portugal. Associated Editor of Observatorio (OBS*), member of the Scientific Committee of Edicciones-InCom-UAB and of the Editorial Committee of Revista de Comunicación y Salud.
  • Luís M. Correia: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST, where he is a professor in the field of mobile and wireless communications. Researcher at INESC-ID/INOV. He has acted as a consultant for Portuguese mobile communications operators and ANACOM and other public and private institutions. He was member of EID Board of Directors. Professor Luís M. Correia was involved in 32 European projects within various framework programmes. He has supervised more than 200 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. He authored more than 500 articles in national and international magazines and conferences, and edited 6 books. He was member of 71 evaluation committees of EU projects and institutions and 12 funding agencies. Professor Luís M. Correia organised and taught more than 70 advanced training courses for companies and other entities. He is an Honorary Professor of Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland) and he won the 2021 EurAAP Propagation Award.
