«The Thematic Interdisciplinary Network on Smart Urban Mobility (redeMOV) at Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) will organise the Conference “The political context of PEC 25: proposals for the Single Mobility System”, as part of the conference series “Conversas à Sexta”. The conference will be given by Patrícia Schipitoski Monteiro, on April 5.

Transport in Brazil is constitutionally recognised as an essential activity and a social right. However, public transport systems continue to operate predominantly under the logic of service provision, based on inefficient indicators and under a management and financing model in crisis. The Constitutional Amendment Bill (PEC) 25 not only seeks to correct the current shortcomings, but also to ensure equal and efficient access to public transport, in line with the principles of social justice and sustainability. This edition of “Conversas às Sextas” will focus on diagnostic elements and proposals related to the Single Mobility System. We will particularly emphasise how this system can engage society and governments (in their various spheres) in the shared responsibility of rethinking urban mobility as a social right.»
