The 2nd edition of Summer Academy “Academia de Verão de Aprendizagem e Olimpíadas Científicas” took place from 9th to 14th July, at Técnico. The participants have doubled in this year’s edition. Around 60 students attended this Summer Academy, organised by TreeTree2, a working group composed mainly of scientists and engineers from Técnico. Besides teaching, this Summer Academy makes science more attractive to young people. “We are very happy not only because the number of participants have doubled, but also because the sessions were improved”, says João Rico, form the organising team.

Learning how to code, hearing about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, calculating the age of the universe, designing a game for smartphones and learning more about arithmetic or geometry were some of the activities organised this year.

“We will certainly continue our efforts to further develop this project. By reducing the number of students per group in this year’ s edition, we have improved and enlarged the sharing of knowledge”, stressed João Rico.
