Business and Technology Week connects Técnico students to the job market

The Técnico students at Taguspark campus organised activities from 26th to 29th February.

The Business and Technology Week (SET) kicked off at Taguspark campus with a performance by Tuna Mista do Instituto Superior Técnico. The event, held from 26th to 29th February, was organised by the Técnico students at Taguspark campus and showcased future career opportunities. At the same time, SET allowed companies to promote their activities and offers to the Técnico community members.

This year’s edition brought together 58 companies and 18 speakers from the financial, technology, telecommunications, retail and consultancy sectors, among others. The activities included quick interviews, where participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves to several company representatives who gave them advice and tips on how to improve a presentation, talks where students could listen to and question experienced professionals in different areas on various topics related to current affairs, and workshops that allowed for more direct contact between the student community and the companies.

“I want to start making contact with the business world and find out more about summer internships”, says Maria Luís. The first-year Industrial Engineering and Management undergraduate student shares that she is interested in doing an internship at Siemens, “a company more focused on engineering that uses management as a complement”, which is what she is looking for.

Manuel Candeias, a member of SET coordination team, is happy with the way activities went. “We’ve managed to create a good atmosphere that has allowed us to strengthen links between companies and students”. He also highlights the Q&A sessions between speakers and participants at the end of lectures that, in his opinion, “has created a very valuable dynamic for those involved”. Manuel also stressed the importance of the quick interviews as they “allow students to get very constructive feedback from employers, which will be very useful for future recruitment and interview situations”.
