This Friday ended the first week of Verão na ULisboa 2016, an initiative of Universidade de Lisboa that aims to provide Basic and Secondary students the opportunity to know and experience the academic life in the several schools.
At Técnico, students from 3rd cycle could choose from two programmes: “Quero ser…Engenheiro” held at Alameda campus and “Dos Carros Inteligentes aos Videojogos: Vem viver a Tecnologia” held at Taguspark Campus.
During five days, the participants who chose Alameda had the opportunity to build rockets, learn to weld, design a house and make a steamboat; at Taguspark the participants learnt more about communication, took the first steps in programming and experienced virtual reality. Over two hundred students from the 3rd cycle had the opportunity to learn more about Engineering.
At the closing session held in Alameda Campus, professor Palmira Silva, Vice-President of Técnico for Communication, asked the audience “did you enjoy this week?”, many students waved their arms. “How many of you want to study Engineering?”: even more students waved their arms.
The rockets built by students were launched in the end of the day at Alameda campus: as usual, it didn’t go well at first, but that did not discourage the future engineers, who showed a great enthusiasm.
More information about Verão na ULisboa can be found in the website of Universidade de Lisboa. The next week will be addressed to Secondary students (10th and 11th years) who will have the opportunity to participate in “Projeta o teu Futuro no Técnico #Sou Engenheiro” and “Dos Carros Inteligentes aos Videojogos: Vem viver a Tecnologia”. The activities are organised by NAPE – Student Support Unit.
