Industrial Engineering and Management student wins A.T. Kearney Class Excellence Award

Francisca Galhardas, winner of the A.T. Kearney Class Excellence Award, had the best grade in Probability and Statistics curricular unit.

The A.T. Kearney Class Excellence Award was created in September 2018, when A.T.Kearney joined Técnico Partner Network. The award aims to distinguish the best student in Probability and Statistics curricular unit. Francisca Galhardas, Industrial Engineering and Management student, is the first winner of A.T. Kearney Class Excellence Award. The award ceremony took place on 25th September.

The award was delivered by the Técnico alumna and Principal at A.T.Kearney, Ana Pedrosa, who stressed the importance of women in technology. According to Ana Pedrosa, the company chose the Probability and Statistics curricular unit “because we consider that the statistical methods taught within this curricular unit are key to management consulting and develop students’ analytical skills, which are essential in a successful consulting career”.

The Vice-president of Técnico for Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations, professor Luís Caldas de Oliveira, highlighted that “this curricular unit is key to engineering training” and helps developing “skills that are highly valued by employers”.

The President of the Department of Mathematics (DM), professor Miguel Abreu pointed out the “importance of applying the knowledge learnt and developing the skills required to do that.”

A.T.Kearney offered a monetary donation to the DM so that all students enrolled in this curricular unit can also benefit from this initiative.
