From 8th to 10th November, Instituto Superior Técnico will host IAEA’s meeting – Technical Cooperation Programme for Europe. Portugal, which is member of IAEA since it was created, in 1957, hosted the other 32 IAEA’s member countries to discuss the Programme guidelines.
The thematic priorities of this Programme are human health, waste and environment, nuclear safety and power, radiation safety and industrial applications. Several researchers from Técnico have been actively participating in the projects and activities promoted and developed by this IAEA’s Programme in recent years.
The opening session of this National Liaison Officers Meeting was attended by professor Arlindo Oliveira, president of Técnico, and professor Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education who made a brief description of the research developments in Portugal and noted that “we are committed to jointly build research structures”.
