This Tuesday, September 28, Técnico – Alameda campus welcomed the new students of Applied Mathematics and Computation, Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, who had the opportunity to contact with new colleagues and learn more about the school.
Marta Catalão got into her 3rd choice course – Electrical and Computer Engineering. “I would be happy to enter any of my first three options because they were all Técnico courses” she stresses. “I really wanted to study in one of the best universities, and I’m not just talking about Portugal. Técnico is also one of the best engineering schools in Europe”, she adds. “I do believe that in terms of engineering there is no other school better than Técnico, which certainly influenced my decision. I have great expectations and I know I will learn a lot and meet a lot of interesting people here”.
The welcome session includes several activities spread across the Alameda campus. The building of IST Student Union (AEIST) is an obligatory stop-off point for several students, who have the opportunity to visit the different exhibition stands, clarify their doubts and learn more about the school.
Rafael Gomes got into his first choice course – Applied Mathematics and Computation. “I have always been fascinated by Mathematics. When I heard about this course it caught my attention right away”, he shares. “Técnico’s good reputation, at national and international level, also influenced my choice. I think that studying at Técnico is very demanding, which is good, because I like challenges”, he says smiling.
Margarida Bettencourt’s assertiveness shows that her choice (Biomedical Engineering) was well thought out. “It is undeniable that Técnico is a school of excellence, which is why I chose it in the first place. I know that Técnico will prepare me very well for my future career”, she says.
