José Tribolet receives medal of scientific merit

The full professor at Técnico and founder of INESC was honoured by the Foundation for Science and Technology.

José Tribolet, a retired full professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, received the medal of scientific merit on 4 July during the Portuguese Science Summit 2024, held in Porto from 3 to 5 July.

Tribolet was founder and president of INESC – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores. He was one of the founders of the Undergraduate Programme in Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Técnico.

He dedicated himself to research on application of digital signal processing in areas such as seismology and speech coding and recognition, and later to “Enterprise Engineering”.

The Portuguese Science Summit, organised by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), was held under the motto “+Science for Health and global well-being”.
