LIP, a research unit at IST, organised a visit to CERN aiming to disseminate the research activity carried out by Portuguese researchers at this European research organisation.

The delegation was composed of professor Isabel Ribeiro, member of FCT’s Executive Board, the President of IST, the sub-Director of Faculdade de Ciências and the Rectors of Universidade de Lisboa, Universidade de Coimbra and Universidade do Minho, representing LIP’s associates.

Professor Fabiola Gianotti and several researchers responsible for laboratories experiments at CERN welcomed the delegation. During the visit, the Atlas and CMS experiments, which involve LIP’s research teams, were presented.

A meeting was held with the IST graduates (CERN associates) who are involved in the collaboration agreement between IST and CERN – http://cern.tecnico.pt/.

This visit brought together all Portuguese researchers and professors who collaborate in experiments at CERN. The photo below shows many of the graduates, researchers and professors from IST who currently develop their activity at CERN.
