Establishing business contacts, sharing experiences and discovering the different professional opportunities are the main goals of the Business and Technology Week (SET). The 16th edition started this Monday, February 25th, and runs until February 28th, at Taguspark campus.
“The first day is devoted to entrepreneurship and startups, because we truly believe that hearing stories from successful entrepreneurs is very important”, says Henrique Matos, member of SET organising team. Miguel Matos, Head of Taguspark Incubator, Rafael do Rosário, Co-Founder of TalkGuest, Diogo Simões, Co-Founder of Elecctro, Gonçalo Mendes and Vasco Moreia, Founders of Followprice, shared the challenges of entrepreneurship.
“Entrepreneurs need to have attitude and the will to try new things. We can be both business and social entrepreneurs”, said Vasco Moreia. “The transition back to employee after being an entrepreneur is quite difficult”, highlighted Diogo Simões. “Ideas are worth very little. Execution is everything. Sometimes ideas aren’t good enough, but if they are executed by an excellent team and in an excellent way, it will result in massive success”, said Gonçalo Mendes.
According to Miguel Matos, “our project would not be what it is today without Taguspark incubator”. “The exchange of information inside an incubator is very important”, said Rafael do Rosário.
During the next three days, renowned companies will excite students’ curiosity. Information sessions and workshops are some activities that will be part of this year’s edition. “More than 40 companies participate in SET. The funny thing is that company representatives have expressed the wish and need to meet Técnico students”, says Henrique Matos.
This year’s edition will focus on labour market. “We want to continue improving SET. We want to attract as much people as we can”, says Henrique Matos.
