Novabase and Técnico renew partnership

The protocol will award two Scholarships and two Merit Awards to Técnico students.

This Tuesday, September 29, Novabase and Instituto Superior Técnico signed a protocol that renews the participation of the company in Técnico Partner Network. The ceremony took place symbolically after the delivery of Novabase Merit Award in Software Engineering, which results from this partnership and aims to reward the merit of Técnico students.

“At this moment, Técnico Partner Network is very important for several reasons, not only from a financial point of view, but also because Técnico opens its doors to society, to companies and to the world. The knowledge we create and the technology we develop are therefore useful and applicable”, said the President of Técnico, professor Rogério Colaço. “On the other hand, our partners can take advantage of our research projects, scientific and technological development and contact with our talented students”, he added.

The CEO of Novabase, engineer João Nuno Bento, shared the same “enthusiasm and joy”. “Although Novabase is a large company, we choose our partnerships very carefully. I am very pleased that, after all these years of relationship, there is a recognition of the strength and value of this partnership, and we are very happy to extend the scope of this partnership”. As a former student, but above all as the CEO of a company recruiting many Técnico alumni, engineer João Nuno Bento stressed “We are very thankful for having so many talented graduates from Técnico working at Novabase”.

The Vice president of Técnico for Operations and Enterprise Relationships, professor Pedro Amaral, closed the session and stressed “the triple effort and commitment with which Técnico will embrace these next 3 years”.

This renewed partnership covers three main fields, the first of which is strengthening the link between Novabase and young talents who leave Técnico, supporting them in their first contact with the labour market.

As in the previous protocol, Novabase will support FST Lisboa, which will build and compete with a new electric car and will develop its first self-driving car.

The tech company will also award two annual scholarships to master students. Besides the merit award that was already awarded to students of Software Engineering curricular unit, another award will be delivered, within the scope of a subject not yet defined.

The protocol also includes support for the equipment and operation of a computer lab used by students.

Novabase is a national leader in the area of Information Technologies and has been listed on Euronext Lisbon since 2000. In 2019, the tech company achieved a turnover of around €120 million, more than a half was made outside Portugal. Novabase has offices in Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Angola and Portugal, and has 1800 employees of different nationalities. In 2017, Novabase was one of the first companies that joined Técnico Partner Network.
