On 25 October, Feedzai renewed its protocol within the Técnico Partner Network, at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters.
Rogério Colaço, president of Instituto Superior Técnico, began the ceremony by thanking Feedzai and emphasising the importance of renewing this collaboration protocol: “It makes me happier to be here renewing this protocol than signing it for the first time, because it means that this collaboration has gone well and that we can continue to count on this relationship with Feedzai”. The president of Técnico also stressed that the Network currently has 25 partners, which is an added value for Técnico and a valuable relationship with the business community.
“When we do things for the first time, we show that it’s possible. When we do it a second time, we’re creating a habit and that’s what we want to do, create a habit and promote this partnership and collaboration with Técnico,” highlighted Pedro Bizarro, CSO at Feedzai.
The company took the opportunity to award four Women in Science MSc scholarships to Técnico students, whose academic career is focused on the scientific areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Advanced Computing.
Leonor Barreiros and Sancha Barroso, Computer Science and Engineering MSc students, Inês Lucas, a Data Science and Engineering MSc student, and Patrícia Roxo, an Applied Mathematics and Computation MSc student, were the four winners of the Women in Science Scholarships promoted by Feedzai, this academic year. The scholarships awarded have a total value of €5,800.
Pedro Bizarro stressed the importance of promoting the role of women in science: “We want to support women in science. Even though at the beginning it was a challenge creating these scholarships, I can only thank the Feedzai team and Técnico for the Women in Science scholarships. It’s increasingly important to build and promote diverse teams. They are more efficient, more productive, longer-lasting and happier. Having women in science is good for teams, for companies and society”. The President of Técnico also supported the idea that it is increasingly important to promote the role of women in academia and the business community.
Patrícia Roxo emphasised the importance of this scholarship in her life as a student: “Throughout my degree, I always took responsibility for my tuition fees. Now that I’m finishing my master’s degree, I was considering whether I could continue my studies and consider a PhD. This scholarship helps me achieve two things: it allows me to pay back the tuition fees for my studies so far and it will allow me to continue studying and pursue a PhD programme.”
Inês Lucas stressed how important it is to see her effort recognised: “I wasn’t expecting it. I am very proud and flattered because I had never received this type of scholarship and I felt that my merit was recognised.”
