Science and Technology Week 2022 at Técnico

Técnico celebrated the Science and Technology Week, from 19th to 27th November 2022, with several activities, inside and outside the campuses.

From 17th to 25th November, the Center for Astrophysics and Gravitation (CENTRA) organised a series of lectures on Physics, in several schools, in Madeira Island.

The Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award ceremony took place on 18th November. This award aims to promote gender equality at Técnico and to recognise the crucial role of women in engineering areas.

In the same week, Técnico presented the “Girls in AI” project that aims to share the stories of former and current Técnico students who followed a career in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

On 24th November – the National Day of Scientific Culture – professor Pedro Abreu received the Ciência Viva Award in the “Education” category for his commitment to teaching and disseminating Physics in Portugal.

During this week, the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE) and the Department of Chemical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (DEQ-IST) organised several visits to the Exhibition “Inorganic Crystals of Culture”, at Alameda Campus. The exhibition will be open until the end of January 2023.
