Rita Moura, Técnico alumna (Civil Engineering) and currently Head of Innovation at Teixeira Duarte, won the “Excellence Award”, in the Engineering category, of “Prémios Construir 2021” (“Construir Awards 2021”).
“I am having mixed feelings. On the one hand I feel that many engineers are far more deserving of this award than I, but on the other hand I feel a great honour and gratitude for having been awarded this prestigious award”, shares the Técnico alumna.
According to Rita Moura, “the big success of the associations I chair – the Portuguese Technological Platform for Construction/Cluster of Architecture, Engineering and Construction, and the Collaborative Laboratory for the Future Built Environment, BUILT CoLAB – in the last 2 years”, may have positively influenced the jury’s decision. Together, the two associations “have about 30 highly qualified employees, working on the digital and sustainable transformation of the sector”, highlights Rita Moura. “Several national major projects were recently approved – “Programa Mobilizador”, “Digital Innovation Hub”, and a protocol with the Environmental Fund – as well as international major projects – “Metabuilding, Towards Green Transition”, says the Técnico alumna.
In addition, Rita Moura believes that the fact that she was named permanent member of the Built4People European Partnership (B4P), under Horizon Europe, may have contributed to this recognition.
With a solid career, Rita Moura believes that the professional excellence of her career “is to a large extent thanks to Teixeira Duarte”. “I want that Teixeira Duarte be recognised as a reference company in Europe, responsible and innovative, and to retain and attract the best customers”. The Técnico alumna feels the same way about the Portuguese Architecture, Engineering and Construction sector. “I want this sector to be a reference and an example to follow in Europe, because I believe that collaborative dynamics take us further, especially in small countries like ours”. “I want to contribute to making the world a better place”.
The “Construir Awards”, aim to recognise the talent of companies and professionals in the Construction industry. The “Excellence Awards” recognise excellence and remarkable talent in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Real Estate and Construction.
The award ceremony took place on December 13, at Cineteatro Capitólio, in Parque Mayer, Lisbon.
