Técnico and Western Michigan University establish a double degree agreement

A protocol between Instituto Superior Técnico and Western Michigan University (WMU) was signed this Thursday, December 10, aiming to create double degree programmes (MSc programme in Engineering and Industrial Management, and MSc programme in Aerospace Engineering) between the two universities.

The agreement was signed during a virtual ceremony attended by Técnico and WMU representatives. Professor Rogério Colaço (president of Técnico), professor Fátima Montemor (vice president of Técnico for Research and International Affairs) , professor Ana Carvalho (coordinator of MSc programme in Industrial Engineering and Management – MEGI), professor Tânia Varela (assistant coordinator of MEGI),  professor João Lourenço (coordinator of International Mobility – Industrial Engineering and Management) and professor Fernando Lau (coordinator of International Mobility – MSc programme in Aerospace Engineering) represented Técnico.

The Western Michigan University was represented by Dr. Jennifer Bott (Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at WMU), Dr. Steven Butt (Dean of College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at WMU), Dr. William Liou (Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), Dr. Osama Abudayyeh (Interim Chair of Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering & Engineering Management), Dr. Azim Houshyar (Deputy Chair of Industrial and Entrepreneurial Engineering & Engineering Management) and Dr. Paulo Zagalo-Melo (Associate Provost of Haenicke Institute for Global Education (HIGE).

The double degree programmes are aimed at 2nd cycle students who will obtain two Master Diplomas after studying a period at Técnico and another period at a partner university.
