Técnico gets a solidarity cupboard in the South Tower

Since February, the Técnico community has a cupboard that aims to promote solidarity and sustainability.

The South Tower of Técnico – Alameda campus has, since 14 February, the ToP DEQ – a solidarity cupboard where the school community can leave or collect goods, depending on their needs.

‘It aims to be an act of solidarity and sustainability,’ explains Dulce Simão, a Técnico professor. ‘Besides helping those in need, we are contributing to reducing waste, promoting a more inclusive and sustainable economy and reducing environmental impact’, she concludes.

This initiative, organised by the Department of Chemical Engineering (DEQ), started with Maria Cristina Fernandes‘s idea and was supported by Marta Abrantes and Dulce Simão, all DEQ professors.

In the cupboard, located to the right of the Chemistry Library, you can donate or collect clothes, books, office supplies, household items, personal hygiene and cleaning items, food that doesn’t need to be stored in the cold, among other items.
