Técnico students and NOS collaborators join together in a co-creation workshop

The collaborative session involved about fifteen Técnico students and six NOS collaborators with the aim of finding solutions to real and current problems.

Several Técnico students and NOS collaborators joined together in a co-creation workshop last April 11, at Técnico – Alameda campus, in the ISTart Lab room. The workshop was led by Luís Caldas de Oliveira, Técnico professor and deputy director of the Técnico Innovation Laboratory (iSTartLab), and Diogo Henriques, member of the ISTart Lab team. The participants were divided into four tables, each comprising about three students and one NOS employee. The session began with a brief presentation of the workshop and its objectives and the TecInnov programme – a Competition to Support the Development of Innovative Ideas.

The session included a casual game so that all participants could get to know each other a little better, and a more detailed presentation of the workshop and the session: divided into four teams, students and NOS employees would have to find solutions to four major challenges presented by the telecommunications company.

The teams started by searching for solutions to issues such as information customisation, information organisation and accessibility solutions for blind people or people with reduced mobility. The session included a coffee break so that students and professionals could enjoy more informal networking.

Back into the room, the four teams continued their work, which culminated with the presentation of the solutions to the problems presented. Catarina Caramalho, an Electrical and Computer Engineering student, highlighted the importance of this type of event: “I like attending these events because I learn a lot from them. It is a new experience, with people from different areas that make us look at the problem from different perspectives”. Ricardo Rodrigo, Real Estate Workplace Strategy & Development Manager at NOS, stressed that this initiative “is quite enriching for companies, since it promotes a more creative vision of problem-solving”.

The NOS co-creation workshop was organised within the scope of the TecInnov programme – a Competition to Support the Development of Innovative Ideas, which will open a call for applications soon.
