Técnico welcomes 1645 new students

The Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Physics Undergraduate Programmes have the highest ‘admission averages’.

This is the time of year when we hear the most about ‘admission averages’ to get into university. The aim of the students who apply for undergraduate programmes through the National Competition for Access to Public Higher Education is to obtain an admission average higher than the Minimum Grading Point (MGP) in order to secure a place.

This year, in general, the Técnico undergraduate programmes MGPs increased again, but it didn’t dissuade applicants who want to study at the country’s largest school of engineering, architecture, science and technology. For the 2024/25 academic year, the number of applications reached almost 4,000, more than double the number of places Técnico offers. 1,645 students were admitted in the 1st call, resulting in a 99% occupancy rate of available places, which continues to rise. Additionally, the percentage of students admitted to their first-choice course at Técnico reached 66%.

Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Physics were once again the 1st cycle programmes with the highest MGPs (187.3 and 182.8, respectively). Aerospace Engineering ranks 5th in the highest admission averages at a national level.

The MGPs of the Undergraduate Programmes at Técnico are as follows:

  • Architecture (Integrated Master’s Programme) – 156,8
  • Aerospace Engineering – 187,3
  • Environmental Engineering – 142,3
  • Biological Engineering – 166,8
  • Biomedical Engineering – 176,5
  • Civil Engineering – 139,5
  • Electronics Engineering – 120,0
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering – 140,0
  • Engineering Physics – 182,8
  • Industrial Engineering and Management – 169,8
  • Computer Science and Engineering (Alameda campus) – 180,0
  • Computer Science and Engineering (Oeiras campus) – 174,5
  • Materials Engineering – 153,5
