This Wednesday, November 3, Xpand IT renewed the scholarships of 4 Técnico students: André Gonçalves, Daniela Castanho, João Simões and Sara Machado.
“I must thank Xpand IT not only for the financial support, but also for taking us out of our comfort zone. The volunteer work I have been doing has allowed me to do very interesting and different things”, said João Simões. “I’m sure that I will apply for an internship position or a job at Xpand IT”, he added.
“This scholarship has been essential to achieve my academic goals”, says Sara Machado. “It has given me stability and comfort that allows me to focus on my academic and personal development”.
“I would like to sincerely thank Xpand IT for supporting our students throughout these years”, said the Vice-President of Técnico for Academic Affairs, professor Alexandre Francisco, who also congratulated the four students for their excellent academic performance.
“We do not have a hidden agenda in promoting the “Xpand IT, Missão Aproximar – Educação” scholarship programme”, said Rui Maia, partner and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Xpand IT. “The Xpand IT scholarships are one of several initiatives carried out with Técnico, and each one has a specific purpose, for example the renovation of DEI/IST laboratories.
Daniel Gonçalves, professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DEI) stressed: “These scholarships provide financial aid stability for our students to continue pursuing their education. Unfortunately, this type of scholarship programme is not very common in Portugal, so we must praise it”.
The “Xpand IT, Missão Aproximar – Educação” scholarship programme started in 2016 and aims to reward the academic merit of Técnico students (Computer Science and Engineering) from low-income families, thus allowing for greater financial stability.
