Técnico won the National Surf University Championship last weekend, 22nd and 23rd May. The Técnico athletes Vasco Veloso and Camila Costa won the collective trophy. Vasco Veloso (Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering) won the gold medal in “male” category and Camila Costa (Engineering Physics) won the silver medal in the female competition.
More than 70 student-athletes participated in this year’s edition. Técnico succeeds Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA), which won the collective trophy in the 2018/2019 season.
Camila Costa shares “there is a drop of bitterness in all this, 2nd place is not enough. However, I left the competition very happy, because Técnico was the overall winner and I was enjoyed the competition”.
The Engineering Physics has been surfing for 15 years and in 2018 she decided to take a break. “This championship was the first one that I participated since then”, she says. Returning to sports and representing AEIST in this competition pleased her very much. “I met a lot of people who, like me, have a heavy workload but continue to invest their time in other activities that make them happy”, she stresses. “It was great to meet friends who I haven’t seen for a long time, as well as friends I made in Lisbon”.
“Surf is something that amuses and relaxes me very much, considering the importance it has in my well-being and in my personality”, says Camila Costa.
