Data Science, a paradigmatic application of the most promising techniques of Artificial Intelligence, stands out as the transformational technology in the digital age. The production and collection of data is constantly increasing, so the correct analysis of this information is extremely relevant today and for the future. However, 46% of organisations report having employees with inadequate data analysis skills.
The Data Science Engineering course introduces the area as an engineering task, insofar as it is a creative application of scientific principles to develop data models. This course follows a “learning by doing” approach, in a “flipped classroom” model. In the sessions, trainees develop models with the help of the instructor for problems in their professional context, applying the knowledge acquired within the course, both through the sessions and by exploring the videos and documentation available on the Técnico+ platform.
This course is part of the Data Science Specialisation Programme for Engineers and is mandatory. This edition will be delivered online via Zoom.

Objectives:
At the end of the programme, trainees are expected to be able to apply the KDD process to multivariate data, particularly classification tasks. Specifically, they should be able to:
– Perform exploratory data analysis (data profiling),
– Identify and apply the data transformations necessary to enable model training;
– Training predictive models
– Evaluating model performance
Target audience:
The prerequisites for attending the course are as follows:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher academic degree;
– Prior knowledge of probability, statistics, basic programming (e.g., Python).*
