The fundamental concepts of business competition and market analysis are essential for any engineer. In order to have an in-depth understanding of his work context, an engineer needs to integrate it into more broad areas.
In this course, different strategies will be addressed: pricing, differentiation or barriers to competition, in order to gain market power. The contents also include the analysis of the impact of competition policy, mergers and acquisitions strategies, integration, disintegration, diversification and internationalisation.
This course is part of the specialisation programme in Engineering and Management as optional, and is coordinated by professor Margarida Catalão (CEG-IST) and Luís Mira Amaral.
