«Twenty years ago, Instituto Superior Técnico innovated by creating the Tutoring Program as a measure to combat academic failure and ease the transition of students into higher education. Since then, tutoring has played a crucial role in promoting academic integration and success while preventing dropout rates.

In this regard, it becomes increasingly necessary and relevant to promote spaces for reflection and sharing regarding the potential, limitations, and best practices within the scope of Tutoring, so that it is possible to continue creating and adapting these programs to the needs of Higher Education Institutions.

The 20th anniversary celebration event of the Tutoring Program, organised by the Academic Development Center, is scheduled for October 27th. The objective of this event is to provide an opportunity for reflection and institutional exchange among professionals from across the country who recognise the importance of tutoring programs in Higher Education Institutions. It will be a platform for sharing best practices and personal experiences with tutoring. Furthermore, we will have a forward-looking perspective as we also intend to reflect on how new artificial intelligence tools can contribute to enhancing the relationships between tutors and students.»
